the comment is one she’d make anyway, and so is his “he doesn’t hold a candle to you, that’s all, gi.” it’s like a slap in the face, realizing that taking their best friendship to a romantic level wouldn’t skip any steps. in fact, it might be the logical next step. she’s not even sure it’s her feelings clouding that assessment either. it might just be true.
Finished chapter five before bed, gonna hold off until Friday to finish catching up on this reread over the weekend with chapter six.
Always so bittersweet getting to this point of a reread.
I will never stop gushing about how incredible this story is or how talented its author. The way it is healing my broken Portwell/formerly hsmtmts-loving heart that will always be so disappointed with what the show turned out to be.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it forever: I wouldn’t trade this story for the bestest, most perfect canon endgame you could possibly imagine. No shade just facts: she does it so much better than Tim ever could. It’s just. so. GOOD.

some of you may say that seb and big red hooking up and cheating on carlos and ashlyn is ““bad writing”” or “”out of character”” or even ““a truly baffling narrative decision”” but have u considered that they had a big prompt wheel in the writers room that a small gremlin spun whenever the clock struck twelve and they had to write it into the script or else trade their first born to the witch outside in the hall ? maybe think about that next time .

About halfway through chapter two of my Then Somebody Bends Unexpectedly reread (it’s Independence Day!) and man oh man oh man, I loooooove this story.

if she did this doofenshmirtz would just be like you see perry the platypus i sold my old computer at the pawn shop but i forgot to delete all those embarrassing photos from the christmas party, which is why i’ve invented the pixel-replacinator! and then as candace is going to text her mom the photo the phone gets hit with the beam and she looks down and she’s just texted her mom a photo of doofenshmirtz in a sexy elf costume or smth. candace can never fucking win the universe bends to facilitate her psychological torment

i will definitely finish tsbu relatively soon i promise. the show and my personal life have definitely left me uninspired for awhile now, but at some point you have to get back into a fluffy little love story for your soul.
